y name is Kim and I am and always have been very passionate towards animals, I felt and connection with them since a very young age. Everyone always said I had a unique gift with animals and people. I have felt a calling for a long time but always feared the idea of facing what horrible things were happening to them. So with a guilty conscience, I would just feel sad, but do nothing.
Then I happened upon something called Canada Shame a few months ago. Although I NEVER am able to watch those video's activists so bravely record on this subject, something force me to click play, just for a second. I did, one second and stop. it was long enough! the sound that came from that video and the look on the mother seal and her cubs face sent me into hysterics.....for three days i was depressed, had a knot in my stomache, couldnt stop thinking of it and would cry on and off. THEN THE ANGER SET IN......and here we are.....I know why when I share this with other, their first instinct is to not get involved and i know why. its so painful. but look at it this way. it hurts you to know it or see it? what about the pain being experience to the poor helpless creature on the other side of what u are watching, reading or whatever? its a sacrafice im more than willing to make. and the thing is, now that i dont turn away , i feel a sense of relief instead of traumatized...dont get me wrong, i recieve these petitions in my email (1000's)! i dont ever watch anymore. i need to read the articles so i can educate myself enough for the work im doing and i cry while reading it. i sign every one i can and share them all, so i feel it justifies my not being able to watch. i gvie my support If we could all just take the time to remember to do our best to view the world as if through the eyes of a child, what a different world it would be! Children see everything through pure, innocent eyes. They are always curious, everything looks brand new and exciting. Easily they forgive and only want honesty, love and new experiences. They love animals and so enjoy watching, learning and interacting with them. They are truly amazed and cannot get enough of things like that, they view everything with magical , mystical wonder. They would never want to harm or kill something they see with eyes like that!
These children our counting on us to mould, guide and teach , we are failing them!
BioImageXD is a multi-purpose post-processing tool for bioimaging. Scientists all over the world study proteins at atomic level and deposit information in the public repository Protein Data Bank, where each molecule is described as the list of its atoms and their 3D coordinates.

With BioBlender users can handle proteins in the 3D space, displaying their surface in a photorealistic way, and elaborate protein movements on the basis of known conformations.

PDB files can be loaded from a user-defined directory or downloaded directly from the PDB site (by inserting the PDB code). The protein is displayed in 3D (as atoms or molecular surface) and the user can calculate and visualize its surface properties, Molecular Lipophilic Potential and Electrostatic Potential. For protein motion, BioBlender calculates intermediates between two conformations using Blender Game Engine. The program gives as output both the intermediate PDB files and the rendered images as a movie.

Animation is a series of still drawings that, when viewed in rapid succession, gives the impression of a moving picture. The word animation derives from the Latin words anima meaning life, and animare meaning to breathe life into. Throughout history, people have employed various techniques to give the impression of moving pictures. Cave drawings depicted animals with their legs overlapping so that they appeared to be running. The properties of animation can be seen in Asian puppet shows, Greek bas-relief, Egyptian funeral paintings, medieval stained glass, and modern comic strips.

In 1640, a Jesuit monk named Althanasius Kircher invented a "magic lantern" that projected enlarged drawings on a wall. A fellow Jesuit, Gaspar Schott, developed this idea further by creating a straight strip of pictures, a sort of early filmstrip, that could be pulled across the lantern's lens. Schott further modified the lantern until it became a revolving disk. A century later, in 1736, a Dutch scientist named Pieter Van Musschenbroek created a series of drawings of windmill vanes that, when projected in rapid succession, gave the illusion of the windmill circling around and around.

The magic lantern became a popular form of entertainment. Traveling entertainers, visiting the villages and towns of Europe, included it in their shows. In London, the Swiss-born physician and scholar Peter Mark Roget, most famous for compiling the Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases, was fascinated by the scientific phenomenon at play and wrote an essay entitled "Persistence of Vision with Regard to Moving Objects" that was widely read and used as a basis for subsequent inventions. One of the first was the thaumatrope, developed in the 1820s by John Paris, also an English doctor. The thaumatrope was simply a small disk with a different image drawn on either side. Strings were knotted onto two edges so that the disk could be spun. As the disk twirled around, the two images appeared to blend. For example, a monkey on one side appeared to sit inside the cage on the opposite side.

The next major innovation was the phenakistoscope, created by Joseph Plateau, a Belgian physicist and doctor. Plateau's contribution was a flat disk perforated with evenly spaced slots. Figures were drawn around the edges, depicting successive movements. A stick attached to the back allowed the disk to be held at eye level in front of a mirror. The viewer then spun the disk and watched the reflection of the figures pass through the slits, once again giving the illusion of movement.

We sometimes get a brain itch that can only be scratched by watching copious amounts of hilarious animal GIFs. If you suffer from the same ailment, let us point you in the direction of Animals Being Dicks, a place on the Internet where it's okay to laugh at our furry friends.

The premise is simple: Animals are perfectly capable of cretinous behavior, and celebrating their wretchedness is a truly funny pastime.

We asked creator and curator John Williams why he thought his Tumblr blog hit the nail on the humor head. "People like to imagine human traits in animals, and I think this idea that animals have the capacity to be petty assholes on purpose is hilarious," he says. "That's why most of the animals have people names like Rick or Janice. Also, my dad used to name all his pets distinctly human names. We had a dog named Dan."We found a place that was adopting out kittens nearby and they had a huge selection to choose from. I decided to go over one day.

The place had maybe 30-40 cats and most of them kittens that had been abandoned or dropped off by previous owners. There was even a litter of long haired black kittens. The lady who ran the place told me I could make myself at home and take my time picking out my pet. I sat down in the middle of the floor and started playing with them. Talk about cuteness overload!

Out of nowhere this little gray kitten jumped up on my lap and curled into a ball. I thought he was sweet and started petting him while reaching to pick up a black kitty. Another fluffy white and beige kitten came over to sit on my lap too. The gray kitten clawed at her and tried to bite her. She fell off my lap and sat next to me looking up at me with big blue eyes. I picked the gray kitty up off of my lap to let him know that wasn't nice and picked up the little fluffy.

But the kitten climbed right back up. I smiled and told him he was a cute kitty, put him down again and stood up. I walked over to a group of sleeping kittens. But the little gray kitten persisted. He jumped onto my leg and started climbing up my pants. I picked him up and sat him on a bench. He jumped from the bench as I was walking away and started climbing up my shirt.

This went on for a while before I finally resigned to the fact that I would have to carry him around if I was going to look at any of the other kittens. The kitten was completely content in my arms. He even let me cradle him like a baby. He just wanted me to carry him. And his purr is loud! So I knew he was content.
